Description

Description

Fludarabine phosphate is a purine nucleoside analog chemotherapy drug.
After IV administration, it is converted to fludarabine triphosphate, which inhibits DNA synthesis, DNA repair, and RNA synthesis, resulting in apoptosis (cell death) of malignant lymphocytes.
It is administered intravenously and requires close medical supervision due to strong immunosuppressive effects.

Uses

Fludarabine Phosphate Injection 50 mg is used in the treatment of:

  • Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL)

    • Particularly in patients refractory to first-line therapy

  • Low-grade / indolent Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma

  • B-cell lymphomas

  • Hairy Cell Leukemia (off-label/combination)

  • Conditioning regimens for stem cell transplantation.

  • Used as part of combination chemotherapy protocols.

Hematologic Side Effects

  • Neutropenia (high infection risk)

Dosage

Dosage is individualized and depends on body surface area (BSA), renal function, and treatment protocol.

Typical Adult Dosage 

  • 25 mg/m² IV once daily

  • Administered for 5 consecutive days

  • Repeated every 28 days

Dose Adjustments

  • Renal impairment: Dose reduction required

  • Treatment delay or discontinuation may be needed in severe myelosuppression or infections
