Vinorelbine is a semi-synthetic vinca alkaloid chemotherapy drug.
It works by inhibiting microtubule assembly, which blocks mitosis (cell division) and leads to cancer cell death.
Vinorelbine injection is administered intravenously (IV) and must be given by trained oncology professionals due to risk of tissue damage if extravasation occurs.

Vinorelbine Injection 50 mg is used in the treatment of:

• Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC)

  • As monotherapy or in combination (e.g., with cisplatin)

• Advanced or metastatic breast cancer

• Other solid tumors (as part of combination chemotherapy)

Common Side Effects

• Nausea and vomiting

• Fatigue

• Constipation (common with vinca alkaloids)

• Injection-site irritation or pain

• Hair loss (mild to moderate)

Hematological Side Effects

• Neutropenia (dose-limiting toxicity)

• Anemia

• Thrombocytopenia (less common)

Serious Side Effects

• Severe neutropenia → infection risk

• Peripheral neuropathy (less frequent than other vinca alkaloids)

• Extravasation → severe tissue injury

• Ileus / severe constipation

• Liver enzyme elevation

Dosage is individualized and based on body surface area (BSA) and blood counts.

Typical Adult Dosage

• 25–30 mg/m² IV

• Given once weekly

The 50 mg vial is used to prepare the required dose based on BSA.

Dose Modifications

• Delay or reduce dose in:

  • Neutropenia

  • Liver dysfunction
