DescriptionZODLIEVA is in a group of medicines called bisphosphonates (bis FOS fo nayts). This medicine inhibits the release of calcium from bones. Zoledronic Acid is a supportive care drug in the category of bisphosphonates.
UsesZodlieva acid is used in the treatment of osteoporosis. It treats osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and men at high risk of fractures.
Side Effectsnausea, vomiting, stomach pain, loss of appetite; diarrhea, constipation; bone pain, back pain, muscle or joint pain; swelling in your feet or ankles; weight loss; headache, tiredness, weakness, dizziness; numbness or tingling; cough, trouble breathing fever, chills, flu symptoms, flushing (warmth, redness, or tingly feeling); severe joint, bone, or muscle pain; new or unusual pain in your thigh or groin pale skin, feeling light-headed or short of breath; hypocalcemia–numbness or tingly feeling in your fingers or toes or around your mouth, twitching, muscle spasms or cramps severe skin reaction–fever, sore throat, swelling in your face or tongue, burning in your eyes
DosageZoledronic Acid 4 mg is given as a 4 mg IV infusion over at least 15 minutes, typically once every 3–4 weeks for bone metastasis and multiple myeloma. For hypercalcemia of malignancy, a single 4 mg IV dose may be repeated after 7 days if needed. Adjust dose in patients with renal impairment and ensure adequate hydration before infusion.
